The much-anticipated console might be officially showcased in two days.
Nintendo is rumored to be revealing the much-anticipated Switch 2 this Thursday, January 16, if the information from insiders is proven true.
This has been first brought up by known leaker Nate the Hate, who has a history for predicting gaming trends accurately. In a recent podcast, Nate revealed that the announcement will focus primarily on the hardware itself, rather than showcasing new games.
“I’ve heard that the reveal itself is going to focus almost exclusively on the console itself. There is not going to be any presence of games. There could be a game shown running on the screen, depending on how the trailer is put together, but software is not going to be a focus,” said Nate.
Besides that, fans can also expect a software-focused Direct in late February or early March, which will include the games to be available. Regarding the release of the Switch successor, Nate said it would be in May or June.
This claim about the upcoming trailer reveal of Switch 2 has been corroborated by The Verge’s Tom Warren as well, who said on Twitter, “I've heard it should be the Switch 2 reveal this week.”
The unexpected leaks of the unofficial prototype of Nintendo Switch 2 from Genki, an accessory manufacturer, at CES 2025 have gathered more attention to the highly anticipated console. The Japanese gaming giant expressed dissatisfaction with the leak and has sent lawyers to contact the manufacturer. Krysta Yang, a former PR Manager at Nintendo, believes that "wild" leaks regarding the Switch 2's design will not make Nintendo reveal the Switch 2 any earlier than originally planned.
There are only two days towards January 16, and we’ll soon get to know if this allegation of Switch 2 reveal is true.
