Numinos Is Seeking an Unreal Engine Generalist

The VR startup is looking for an Unreal Engine Generalist who will be responsible for rendering and the use of various tools provided by the program such as Chaos, Lumen, landscapes, profilers,and more.

Numinos, a VR startup developing location-based VR experiences that recreate historical events and places with hyper-realistic fidelity, is seeking an Unreal Engine Generalist.
"We are building an experience such that it has a narrative coherence in its voyage in time, but that is able to encompass other key uncorrelated events in time, in such a way that enhances the immersiveness and overall magical experience of the customer."

The company is currently in its early stage and is looking for a specialist with comprehensive expertise and experience in working with Unreal Engine and is proficient in all aspects of the engine to lead this area in close cooperation with the rest of the technical team.

According to Numinos, the main areas of work will be rendering and the use of various tools provided by the program such as Chaos, Lumen, landscapes, and profilers, among others, as well as third-party tools.

The company states that the expected goal for this position is to be self-reliant in performing the Unreal Engine tasks or conducting research as needed. In addition, a potential Unreal Engine Generalist should be an effective communicator, a quick learner, and a passionate leader in meeting delivery requirements and technical constraints.

Responsibilities:

  • Integrate the assets and elements into the scene in Unreal Engine 5;
  • Lead the general workflow of technical departments in order to have the best deliveries into the engine;
  • Verify the quality of teammates' work once imported into the engine, and make improvements when necessary;
  • Lightning of the scene;
  • Post-processing;
  • Audio implementation in the scene;
  • Rendering;
  • Optimization and profiling;
  • Understand and apply graphic principles;
  • Use artistic references to improve visuals;
  • Use specific project tools in order to achieve the best results and meet deadlines;
  • Respond to and implement changes according to the received feedback.

Requirements:

  • +3 years of previous experience (junior profiles are also allowed!) or similar knowledge;
  • Proficiency in using UE tools such as landscapes, lightning, postprocessing, etc.;
  • Experience with materials and shader creation;
  • Environment art expertise;
  • The good notion of composition rules, and proportions as well as a good eye for detail;
  • Creative, with high standards to achieve the most realism possible;
  • Experience in profiling tasking and optimization
  • Experience in packaging and builds generation;
  • Knowledge of the technical constraints linked to real-time, 3D engines and level editors;
  • Knowledge of Blueprints;
  • Knowledge of programming languages is a plus;
  • Knowledge about tools or plugin creation is a plus;
  • Knowledge of texturing software (Substance Designer/Painter) is a plus;
  • Experience with simulation software (liquids, destruction, etc.) as Houdini is a plus;
  • Knowledge of other engines is considered a plus;
  • Knowledge about VR is considered a plus;
  • Good knowledge of English (Spanish is highly appreciated!).

Numinos says it is mainly looking for a UE Generalist, although it noted that technical artists are also welcome.
