NVIDIA's RTX Remix Has Been Offcially Launched

The modding platform has been released as open-source on GitHub.

NVIDIA has officially launched RTX Remix, a highly-anticipated modding platform that enables developers to drastically improve the visuals in classic games by capturing game assets, automatically enhancing materials with powerful AI tools and quickly enabling RTX with ray tracing and DLSS.

First unveiled back in September 2022, the toolkit was built in NVIDIA Omniverse and can be used to remaster old-school DirectX 8 and 9 games and add path-tracing to them. The technology was used earlier to create Portal with RTX, a DLC to Valve's original Portal that reimagines game's graphics with full ray tracing and DLSS 3.

At the moment, only RTX Remix Runtime, which provides the rendering and asset replacement when placed alongside the game and allows for frame capture that is the basis for setting up replacements, has been made available, with NVIDIA planning to ship RTX Remix Creator Toolkit sometime in the near future.

RTX Remix has been launched as open-source, alongside a comprehensive Wiki and a detailed user guide, designed to help you learn more about the platform and how to add RTX Remix to a game. You can access the tool by clicking this link.
