Oppo Patents a Dual Fold Smartphone

The company may be working on a smartphone with a flexible screen that folds inside the case. The design will allow for the camera setup to be folded in different directions.

Oppo may be working on the release of a smartphone with a flexible display, made in an unusual design case. The description of the device that is supposed to be a direct competitor to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 appeared on the website of China's National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA).

The smartphone is said to have a flexible screen that will fold inside the case. the same way as the Find N, however, it has one more hinge on the right part of the phone. The second hinge seems to allow for the camera setup to be folded in the other direction so that it could be used as both the main cameras and the selfie cameras.

It is also reported that an auxiliary external screen is provided for the device that will get a small hole at the top for an additional facial camera. The symmetrical USB Type-C port and physical control buttons on the sides of the case were also mentioned in the patent application.

It is worth noting that the fact that such a patent appeared does not guarantee that Oppo will actually make this smartphone. There is no information about the possible timing of the appearance of working prototypes yet.
