Players were not affected, but "the hit on production timeline has been significant."
Red Barrels
Red Barrels, the developer of Outlast, Outlast 2, and The Outlast Trials, recently experienced a data breach that affected the work of the studio and its employees.
According to the company's announcement, its "internal IT systems were recently impacted by a cybersecurity event, involving access to some of its data." As soon as the breach was detected, the developer took measures to protect the systems and the information. It attracted a group of external cybersecurity experts "to conduct an in-depth investigation into the incident."
As stated in the announcement, the investigation is now completed and players were not affected by the breach. However, the incident impacted the studio's work process: "The hit on our production timeline has been significant." Red Barrels shared that some things would have to be delayed and promised to release a more detailed update soon.
The compromised data reportedly might include game source codes, game builds, human resource information, and company credit card information.
