Following the success of the Vampire: The Masquerade game jam, which took place in 2021 and where indie developers created more than 80 games, Paradox Interactive announced it is launching a new indie publishing program entitled Unbound.
The initiative that comes under World of Darkness, the transmedia horror brand behind Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, and Wraith: The Oblivion, allows independent developers to create video games set in Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition story.
Selected games created under the Unbound label will be published via Itch.io, with studios being able to retain up to 67% of monetized projects and potentially have additional marketing support by getting featured on World of Darkness social media and streams.

Any assets from games that participate in the initiative and do not use World of Darkness IP elements will be owned by developers, and they will be able to distribute them, for instance, in art books, soundtracks, or asset store entries.
World of Darkness emphasized that the Unbound titles will not be canonically part of the universe, so the developers will be allowed to "express their creative freedom using the brand’s storytelling engine".
