Patch 5 for Baldur's Gate 3 Will Fix Astarion's Kisses

Prettier kisses for the most kissed character.

I must admit that Larian Studios' dedication to the smallest things impresses me. Well, kissing animations might sound like a small detail to some, but I guess they're pretty significant for the Baldur's Gate 3 community, especially when it comes to Astarion – everyone's favorite companion.

Larian announced Patch 5 for the game, which will fix the little pecks you can ask for from Astarion. In addition, it will repair the performance issues when committing "the eternally-active acts of thefts and violence." The company promises much more to come in the patch this week, but before its launch, we'll see a community update that talks about new features coming to Baldur's Gate 3. There is no release date for it yet, so stay tuned.

I've never seen a studio spending so much time on fixing kissing. Larian changed Astarion's peck animation soon after the game's release so you could see his face, then did something with it again, then again so now the kiss doesn't "connect" the way it's supposed to, and now it has to fix whatever happened after fans expressed their discontent.

If you're not a fan of Astarion, you might be annoyed by all the attention he gets when other characters could definitely use some fixes as well. But fear not: it seems like all companions will get new kisses, according to the info from Twitter user Andrea. Of course, we can't say if it's true yet, but looks promising.

The previous patch for the title rolled out at the beginning of the month, introducing a color-blind mode, ways to clean your characters, and more.

Hopefully, Patch 5 will offer even more stuff so we all can start a new run again.
