The edition allows new and self-taught CG artists to explore the benefits of photorealistic rendering at their own pace with a free non-commercial license that can be renewed every 90 days.
This version includes scene intelligence, GPU production rendering, and improved IPR. Please note that renders are not watermarked, though V-Ray PLE output is limited to 4K. Also, it doesn't support batch rendering, distributed rendering or access to AppSDK.
The team noted that this edition has been in development for several months, but they decided to push the release after COVID-19 "to help more artists access the software from home." They have also added a new set of learning materials to the V-Ray for Maya documentation page.
