Adobe has launched Substance 3D Modeler 1.8, the latest version of its multisurface 3D sculpting software, introducing a series of updates to the camera system, adding the option to place new cameras in your scene, switch between Orthographic and Perspective modes, and improved key modeling tools performance. The image above is a render from Substance 3D Modeler 1.8 demonstrating the Orthographic view.
This update adds two new panels to the right side of the Top bar on the desktop, or on the left side of the support hand in VR called Viewport and Node Properties. From it, you can switch between camera positions, create new cameras, and adjust the selected camera's settings:

The Viewport one lets you switch between Perspective and Orthographic views. You can also set your current camera position to be aligned with an axis or use Numpad keyboard shortcuts to quickly move the camera to different positions and toggle the view.
This panel is also accessible in Render mode, featuring much more control over your projects. Now, you can use depth of field, set an aspect ratio, include a depth map, and much more.
Other than that, Adobe has made several improvements to the modeling tools such as Buidtup, Inflate, and Crease, making them more responsive.
Now, Inflate supports alpha textures, while Crease provides much smoother, more consistent results.
As for Flatten, it has also been improved with a new toggle to lock or unlock the flattening plane, meaning the tool will adjust the angle at which it flattens based on the clay currently under the brush.
The rest of the Substance 3D Modeler 1.8 release includes a list of changes to keyboard shortcuts and minor bug fixes.
