Players Discovered Hidden Features Inside Elden Ring

Players noticed that spell damage can be changed based on the in-game weather conditions.

Long-anticipated Elden Ring launched across PC and console a week ago and it's already got extremely positive reviews being one of the highest-scoring games on Metacritic and OpenCritic. As the game continues growing audience, current players have noticed some curious gameplay secrets.

Players figured out that the game's dynamic weather system influences the way spell damage changes. It turned out that when it rains and the creatures get wet, fire spells cause less damage. Meanwhile, lightning spells increase it instead. Depending on the weather conditions, damage capacity changes around 10%.

Iron Pineapple, a popular Souls-like YouTuber, tested these mechanics and confirmed that rain, indeed, influences resistance to spells. He also discovered that fallen leaves in the game can impact the game progression as when it's happening, players get a chance to get more Runes with every enemy they kill.

This isn't the first time when FromSoftware adds similar hidden features in their games. Reddit users also recalled that being wet in Dark Souls II caused 30% less fire damage, while lightning would increase damage by 10%, instead.
