Amie Loake, the former producer at Lionhead Studios, joined Playground Games to return to the development of the Fable franchise.
The former producer at Lionhead Studios, Amie Loake, announced she is joining the British-based Playground Games and will return to Fable – the fantasy RPG franchise she had previously worked on at Lionhead.
Loake was a part of Lionhead Studios since 2013 when she worked as an embedded test associate. Soon, she left the studio later coming back as a software test engineer on Fable Legends. In 2014 Loake became a production assistant, and a year later she worked on the Fable series as an assistant producer. After the development of the franchise got canceled in March 2016, Loake worked in German-based Goodgame Studios which developed games for mobile and free-to-play RPGs, and later she joined Sumo Digital where she worked for over five years.
Lionhead Studios was the original development team behind the Fable series until Fable Legends was canceled and the studio itself got closed. In July 2020, Forza Horizon developer Playground Games announced it was working on the Fable reboot and revealed that some developers who had worked on the original games were involved.
The development team also includes some Rockstar, Rocksteady, BioWare, and Ubisoft veterans along with the devs behind Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon. Last year, senior gameplay designer on Cyberpunk 2077 Pawel Kapala also joined the team.
The Fable reboot is currently in development for Xbox Series X/S and PC. The developers haven't revealed the release date yet, however, rumors have it that the title might launch in 2023.
