LogInSony says December 2022 was the biggest sales month to date for PS5.
PlayStation 5 sales have surpassed 30 million units worldwide as of December 2022, Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan revealed.
Ryan shared the news at a CES press conference on Wednesday. The PlayStation head noted that in December 2022, PS5 sales hit a record since the console's release and added that PS5 shortages are now mostly a thing of the past and that it will be much easier for consumers to purchase the console now.
"PS5 supply has improved toward the end of last year, and I'm happy to share that December was the biggest month ever for PS5 console sales and that we have now sold more than 30 million units through to consumers worldwide," Ryan said. "Everyone who wants a PS5 should have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally, starting from this point forward."
Additionally, the PlayStation head touched upon the games coming to PlayStation 5 and PSVR 2 later this year.
"With PS VR2's launch around the corner, and blockbuster games like Final Fantasy XVI, Hogwarts Legacy, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 coming to PlayStation 5 later this year, it's never been a more exciting time to be a part of the PlayStation community," he said.
During the presentation, Sony also revealed that Gran Turismo 7 and Beat Saber will be released on PSVR 2. It also stressed that the VR version of Gran Turismo 7 will be free for owners of the original racing simulator. Ryan also announced that there will be at least 30 games available for release specifically for PSVR 2.
