PlayStation Los Angeles Studio Is Seemingly Working on New Game

The newly established studio has open positions.

Sony

PlayStation opened a new studio in Los Angeles not so long ago, and it is getting ready to present its next game after it finds talented employees.

Its open positions suggest it will be a high-profile AAA cooperative multiplayer game powered by Unreal Engine 5. Here are the requirements for a Senior Gameplay Engineer, for example:

  • Minimum 4+ years of demonstrable game development experience, with at least 2 years in gameplay-related disciplines working alongside a team of designers and engineers.
  • You have a strong interest, instinct and passion for gameplay feel and enjoy working with creative disciplines to deliver exceptional experiences for players.
  • Experience working in Unreal Engine (UE4 and/or UE5) for 4+ years. AAA experience is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and familiarity with common scripting languages.
  • Experienced in designing and implementing some of the key gameplay features such as weapons, abilities, player movement, networking, and AI.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering stable and polished features.
  • You are experienced in breaking down complex problems into smaller, incrementally achievable goals.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, distributed team.

It wouldn't be too bold to assume this will be a live service project, as this would align with Sony's alleged views on its future. It has recently canceled several games, including The Last of Us OnlineSpider-Man: The Great Web, a Destiny spin-off from BungieConcord, and the Twisted Metal reboot.

So it's safe to say no one will be surprised if we get yet another live service shooter. Time will tell what awaits Sony's IPs.
