The creator used DillonGoo Studios' Goo Engine build to achieve the final result.
Developer and VFX/Technical Artist known as Late as usual carries on the series of marvelous visual effects with one more remarkable project. This time, the artist impressed us by showcasing some raymarched decals that create a neat portal-like effect and can be easily customized and tweaked. To set up the effect, the artist utilized Blender and its Geometry Nodes toolset.
Moreover, the artist has also shared the nodes behind the project, noting that they only work in Goo Engine, DillonGoo Studios' custom build of Blender that includes several key modifications to the source code that allow one to focus on NPR and anime-style rendering.
Previously, Late as usual also showed a neat "fake boolean" shader, a Geometry Nodes-powered mesh disintegration effect, a cool-looking space-destroying portal, an impressive laser melting effect, an "uploading" effect, an incredible lighting VFX, and a stunning black hole effect made with shaders only. You can check out the artist's Gumroad page and Twitter page to learn more.
