QuakeCon 2016: Prey Uses CRYENGINE

During the keynote id Software and Bethesda showed a lot of screens and video from the upcoming games. Check the footage for reference below!

One of the biggest surprises of the show was the demonstration of Prey gameplay. The game looks very much like a new version of Bioshock in space. You’ve got an abandoned space station crawling with crazy black smokey monsters. The project is being developed by Arkane Studios – one of the most talented game companies out there. This studio gave us Dishonored. Some of the people on the team worked on Half-Life 2 and System Shock before.

Prey is built with the help of CRYENGINE. Unlike most CRYENGINE games this one features a lot of closed environments and beautiful outer space places (all right, there is still Star Citizen, which does all of that already).

This is a short official story synopsis of Prey:

In Prey, you awaken aboard Talos I, a space station orbiting the moon in the year 2032. You are the key subject of an experiment meant to alter humanity forever – but things have gone terribly wrong. The space station has been overrun by hostile aliens and you are now being hunted. As you dig into the dark secrets of Talos I and your own past, you must survive using the tools found on the station — your wits, weapons, and mind-bending abilities. The fate of the Talos I and everyone aboard is in your hands.

Bethesda finally revealed some gameplay footage of Quake Champions. It does look a lot like the Quake 3 Arena of old. The shooting is super fast, there’s rocket jumping and incredible movement speed. The game is running at 120hz with unlocked framerates. It’s safe to assume that the newest iteration of id Tech is powering the project. Have a look at the video of the gameplay.

Last but not least, here are some screenshots of the upcoming Dishonored 2. This is going to be one of the most visually interesting games of the year.
