Record Excellent Gaming Moments Using Steam Game Recording

This powerful client allows players to record gameplay videos, edit, archive, and share them conveniently.

Valve

Steam's new client, Steam Game Recording, which allows players to capture gameplay footage without using any third-party software, is out of beta and available for all. The new tool is equipped with various useful features to let you edit gameplay videos and share them conveniently with friends or publicly.

With the recording turned on, you don’t need to worry about missing any historic or highlight moments in the game. By turning on the background recording mode, your gameplay will be saved to the drive that you assign, and it’s up to you to decide its length and storage limits. You can also use the on-demand mode, which starts and ends when you decide to.

Its replay feature, which is accessible in the Steam Overlay, will help you figure out what exactly happened when your character got killed or recall an NPC’s dialogue.

Things might go messy with an increasing number of clips saved. It would be a problem to organize them well and quickly find what you want to revisit. That’s what Valve has taken into consideration and provided rich, “lightweight yet powerful tools” to save you from the headache of finding, keeping, and sharing the clips.

The Timeline and Event Markers are extremely helpful for finding key moments — the achievements automatically create markers. In addition to the markers from players, game developers can also preset them and notify Steam when certain events occur to generate markers in their games.

Notably, Steam Game Recording works with non-Steam titles as well, as long as Steam Overlay is allowed to run to record. It also fully functions on Steam Deck, and users can send any clips they create on their Steam Deck to PC.
