Thanks to Luke Ross, the creator of the R.E.A.L GTA 5 VR, you can get a VR mod to play Red Dead Redemption 2.
Luke Ross announced the official release of the VR mod on Patreon. It is now in ‘Early Access’ and will be improved in the future. You can play Red Dead Redemption 2 in VR from the beginning to the very end in either first- or third-person perspective.
As Luke explained on Patreon, this mode was a tricky one to develop as technically speaking Red Dead Redemption 2 is more advanced than GTA 5, meaning the code for GTA 5 VR could not be used when creating this mod. Luke had been working on the mod for around six months and is already planning to develop VR mods for some more major titles including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077.
Luke Ross' previous VR mods were available (and still are) for free, however, because Red Dead Redemption 2 has been incredibly time-consuming, you will need to become the creator's patron to download the mod. According to the players' feedback, it is absolutely worth the little contribution as they seem to be having a blast exploring the game with the new VR mod.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. The newly released VR mod developed by Luke Ross supports all major VR headsets including Oculus Quest, HTC VIVE, Valve Index, and others. Note, however, that so far the mod is not compatible with VR motion controllers, meaning that you need a mouse and a keyboard to play the game.
