Capcom is happy with the results of the latest Resident Evil entry.
Capcom revealed that the multiplatform remake of Resident Evil 4 managed to sell over 5 million units worldwide.
The latest chapter in the series offered players to travel back to a well-known village where the main hero Leon is looking for the president's daughter. It appears the fan base loved how the development team approached the basics and enhanced the experience with new gameplay mechanics.
Previously, celebrating its 40th anniversary, Capcom announced that it had sold 500 million game units, 142 million of which were Resident Evil copies (the first part of the series launched back in 1996). "More than 27 years later, continuous support from the passionate fan base across the globe makes it Capcom’s flagship game series," wrote the team in a press release.
The press release also notes the game had a highly positive reception from players, and Capcom thinks that the release of The Mercenaries, free additional downloadable content, has allowed them to drive sales, too. "Capcom looks to continue expanding sales with the upcoming release of Resident Evil 4 VR Mode, free downloadable content compatible with PlayStation VR2," added the team.
