Resident Evil Village Sells Over 4.5 Million Copies Worldwide

Capcom announced that the latest release in the Resident Evil game series reached a new milestone and sold more than 4.5 million units and that includes digital and physical copies.

A little over a month ago that number was at 4 million. Considering that the game was released 2 months ago, the sales are growing faster than those for the previous release in the series, Resident Evil 7 which sold 9 million units since 2017.

Resident Evil's cumulative sales have hit 100 million units since the first release in 1996. Resident Evil Village is already doing better than some of the games of the RE franchise that have been out for years (including Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil Code: Veronica). Whether it is Lady Dimitrescu making everyone go head over heels or something else, it is undeniable that Resident Evil Village can easily become the best-selling title of the whole franchise.

Sucks, because this is the worst case of cultural appropriation that no one knows about. Capcom did not even translate the game to the language whose culture they stole, yet they did do it to 13 others. Metro Exodus is played best in russian, The Witcher 3 in polish, anime with japanese voiceover and subtitles, RE8 should've at least had romanian as an option. Screw Capcom!
