Riot Games Appoints Andrei van Roon as the Head of League Studios
The executive will oversee the future development of League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and League of Legends: Wild Rift as well as develop and expand the lore around champions and world of Runterra.
Riot Games has announced that it officially appointed Andrei van Roon as the head of League Studios. Van Roon will now be leading development across League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and League of Legends: Wild Rift.
According to Riot Games, he will be responsible for "managing League Studios' development teams and driving key decisions regarding the titles' futures" and will report to Riot's Co-Founder and President of Games Marc Merrill. Among his responsibilities, there will also be developing and expanding the lore around champion characters as well as building world lore for the title Runeterra.
Van Roon has been with Riot for over 11 years, first joining the company as an associate designer. He later served in various designer positions including champion designer, core gameplay lead designer, a design director. Since May 2019, he also worked as a game director for League of Legends.
