Rumor: Valve Is Developing Two Half-Life Games

One is VR, and the other is not.

Valve

Half-Life 2 is turning 20 in November, and fans expect some kind of reveal to celebrate. Rumors of the series' continuation have been around for years, and of course, everyone is hoping for the Half-Life 3 joke to become reality.

You might have heard about HLX, a mysterious project that is assumed to be a new Half-Life game. YouTuber Tyler McVicker has studied all the code he could from Valve's games, and he's sure HLX will be a non-VR PC game.

He noticed that Valve opened a new testing branch for Half-Life 2, suggesting we might see some related news in November, but he believes HLX is not ready to be presented yet, even though it has been in development for 4 years at least.

But that's not all Valve reportedly has in store. McVicker also said that Valve's VR headset Deckard is still in production, and the company will likely release a game to showcase its features, as it was with Half-Life: Alyx and Valve Index.

There are several clues that hint at HLX's existence, like its name in the bug reporter, so it's not even a question in fans' minds, but we've still yet to hear about it from Valve itself. And we won't for a while because it has just officially announced its hero-based shooter Deadlock after months of leaks and testing.

We don't know for sure what HLX or the VR game will be called, but earlier this month, fans found a confirmation of Valve working on Project White Sands through actress Natasha Chandel's portfolio. Perhaps this is the name we'll see more soon.

McVicker promises to share his Half-Life findings every 2 weeks, so subscribe to his YouTube channel and join our 80 Level Talent platform and our Telegram channel, follow us on InstagramTwitterLinkedInTikTok, and Reddit, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
