It's been reported that Lucid Games have been removed from the reboot of the vehicular combat series and replaced with one of Sony's first-party studios in Europe.
Lucid Games have been reportedly removed from Sony's rumored reboot of Twisted Metal. In a recent report by VCG, sources told that Sony has decided to hand the series revival over to one of its first-party studios in Europe.
Previously, it was said that the iconic vehicular combat has been in development since last year, with the UK-based studio Lucid Games – the team behind Destruction AllStars – being in charge of the project. However, as we know now, Sony afterward decided to go with another studio. The name of new developers hasn't been revealed yet.
Sources didn't clarify what were the reasons for the developers' change, but one of them came up with the theory that the mixed reception to Lucid Games’ PS5 Destruction All-Stars could have influenced the decision.
Currently, Sony hasn't made any public announcement on both the decision and the Twisted Metal reboot game. However, many believe that Sony is planning on bringing back the car combat series to coincide with its TV series adaptation in 2023.
