Bloober Team added the 90s filter and interface adjustments that would also make the game experience more immersive.
Bloober Team, the developers of Silent Hill 2 Remake, showcased new visual effects for the upcoming game, including a 90s filter and the option to turn off the interface elements.
The new filter will have a grain effect, color correction, and screen adjustments, which will contribute to the old-school experience. The developers also introduced a way to make the game experience more immersive – the players will have the option to hide all elements of the UI. According to Bloober Team, without the interface, "player guidance will naturally be directed by the game's visuals, sound effects, and James's behavior." They explained that the character would look at important spots and have different animations and facial expressions if wounded.
Recently, Bloober Team also shared that the players would use the map to orient in the game's locations, which would also enhance immersion while playing:
Silent Hill 2 Remake is scheduled for October 8. Earlier, the development team expressed substantial confidence in the final product, stating that they were "not only excited but at the same time very confident about the final result." The developers also shared that the studio used a more immersive camera and performance capture to record the actors' bodies, facial expressions, and voices all at the same time.
