Sony Announces New Loyalty Program PlayStation Stars

Members of this program will be rewarded with special loyalty points for completing various campaigns and activities which they can use to top up the balance of the PSN wallet or spend them on the PS Store.

On Thursday, Sony introduced PlayStation Stars, a new loyalty program aimed to reward players for completing various campaigns and activities.

The loyalty program will be available for free. Its members will be able to earn loyalty points for participating in regular events with different tasks. For example, players can get some specific trophies in games, win a tournament, or be the first to earn "platinum" in a particular game.

The loyalty points can be used to top up the balance of the PSN wallet or players can spend them on select PlayStation Store products. Additionally, the PlayStation Plus members who are enrolled in PlayStation Stars program will automatically earn points for purchases on PlayStation Store.

Other rewards will include "digital collectibles" which are 3D rendered representations of things like figurines of iconic characters from games and other mediums and past Sony devices. The company clarified that these digital collectibles are not NFTs – those items cannot be exchanged or sold and they are not leveraging blockchain technologies.
