Sony Celebrates PS 30th Anniversary with Retro Design Collection

The latest PlayStation 5 products, including the upcoming PS5 Pro, will be released in the original design of PS1.

Sony is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the first PlayStation launch with a limited collection of consoles in retro designs.

The first PlayStation console was launched on December 3, 1994, and was followed by 30 years of five gaming device generations. In the anniversary collection with "highly limited supply," Sony utilized the color design of the first device in the line and transferred it into its latest products.

The collection includes:

  • PlayStation 5 Pro Console – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition BundIe
  • PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle
  • PlayStation Portal Remote Player – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition (standalone)
  • DualSense Edge Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition (standalone)
  • DualSense Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition (standalone)

Sony

The Anniversary Collection will be available as of November 21. The PlayStation 5 Pro Console – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle will be produced in a limited release of 12,300 units, each of them with limited edition numbers engraved on the device. This number was chosen to commemorate the month and date of the first PlayStation console launch. The number of other redesigned devices is not specified.

For the anniversary, Sony introduced some other events and activities, including the Shapes of Play collection, a free online multiplayer weekend, PS5 Esports tournaments, Gran Turismo 25th Anniversary, and an exclusive selection of soundtracks from beloved PlayStation titles, including God of War, Twisted Metal, Starhawk, and others.

Before, Sony announced that it would expand its console store by selling refurbished devices.
