Sony's FPS Concord Flops on Steam

The number of concurrent players hasn't exceeded 700 over the first few days after the release.

Recently released FPS Concord had a relatively modest number of concurrent players after its launch on Steam, with less than 700 at the peak. Concord was released on August 23, and over the first days after the release, the all-time peak of concurrent players peaked at 697, and the 24-hour peak hasn't exceeded 300 players. As seen from the graph below, the numbers tend to decline with each passing day:

The Metacritic average score for Concord is 2.2 based on 472 user ratings, which is described as Generally Unfavorable, and 65 out of 100 based on 23 critic reviews, which stands for Mixed or Average.

Back in July, a month before the release, Concord had only over 4000 wishlists and a rank of 783 on Steam's most wishlisted upcoming games, which wasn't a promising sign. However, as of writing, the game's reviews on Steam are labeled "Mostly Positive," as 71% of almost 430 user reviews are positive.

The players criticize the characters' appearance and a lack of gameplay models, which one of the players on Steam calls a "cardinal sin." Many reviews are mixed, stating that "half of the game's elements are excellent, other half just doesn't work well," "it's not bad, but it's not good either," and "game is really mid."

But probably the most repetitive drawback mentioned in multiple user reviews on Steam and Metacritic is the lack of an innovative approach. "It does nothing new," "the game is just another hero shooter," "nothing amazing or that terrible," "the game severely lacks a reason to keep coming back for more," players on Steam write.
