You can now watch Sony's infamous E3 2006 event in 1080P quality thanks to the Noclip Game History Archive channel which uploaded the nearly 2-hour-long PlayStation show on YouTube. The video is said to be sourced from two HDCAM's that recorded the source broadcast feed.
Please note that there are two minutes missing in the middle of the presentation, but Noclip is currently searching for a tape that might have it.
What made Sony famous with this presentation is how they positioned the upcoming PlayStation 3 at the time (and gave birth to a lot of memes). First, there was the $600 price tag news (prices of Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii combined) which led to the "$599 US dollar" meme. Legends say the meme is still haunting Sony.
The company didn't finish with the price news though. Sony also showed off Ridge Racer on PSP, with CEO Kaz Hirai enthusiastically shouting, "RIIIIIDGE RACERRRRR." Let's not forget about the giant enemy crab meme during the demonstration of Genji: Days of the Blade, where the presenter said the game has a historical basis, and then a giant enemy crab unexpectedly appeared.
The PS3 console didn't lose to Xbox 360 in the end though as it surpassed the Xbox 360's worldwide shipment total in 2013.
