Sony's New Studio Firesprite Is Developing AAA Horror Game in UE5

According to the studio's job opening, Firesprite is currently working on a new "AAA narrative-driven horror-adventure game" that will run on Unreal Engine 5.

Developer Firesprite which has been recently acquired by Sony seems to be working on a new AAA horror game powered by Unreal Engine 5. The studio is known for working on the PlayStation VR 2 exclusive Horizon: Call of the Mountain and will reportedly develop the rumored Twisted Metal reboot.

The news that a horror game is in development at Firesprite was spotted by a Resetera user who cites the studio's job listing. According to the job opening, Firesprite is currently looking for a narrative director to join the development team for a "AAA narrative-driven horror-adventure game in Unreal 5".

"The Narrative Director is responsible for the project storytelling, helping establish & consider the game's universe and lore, with responsibility for the quality implementation of narrative content for project milestones and ultimately the game's release," it reads.

It is yet not clear whether this new title will become a part of an already existing series or a new IP.

Sony purchased Firesprite in early September 2021 making it the fourteenth studio to join PlayStation Studios. Even before the takeover, it was known that the Liverpool studio was developing a "game-changing huge multiplayer shooter" as well as "an ambitious dark narrative blockbuster adventure". When the acquisition deal was closed, the studio did not reveal any details about those projects.
