The company is relocating its Wavertree office after 27 years. The new facility will be a 65,000 square foot campus based in the center of the city.

A planned look of a new office

Sony announced it sets up a new office in Liverpool relocating the previous one from Wavertree, a suburb of Liverpool, after 27 years, to the center of the city. According to the company, the new facility will open in the spring of 2022.

The new location is a 65,000 square foot campus that includes "collaboration and entertainment" spaces, a cafe, a staff gym, and a rooftop terrace.

PlayStation has been a massive business in Liverpool bringing good opportunities for the local economy. Since the initial debut of PlayStation in Europe, the Wavertree Technology Park area where the office was set became a huge part of the city. At its peak, the Liverpool office employed over 500 staff members and operated a number of developers. Last year, the company purchased Firesprite Studio, a game developer which is also based in the city.

Sony states that with the new location it intends to attract and retain talent as well as build better connections with tech companies, business partners, and the academic communities in the area.
