Squad-Based FPS Starship Troopers: Extermination Announced

The game will launch in Early Access in 2023.

Offworld Industries, the developer behind tactical first-person shooter Squad, has announced a new game based on Starship Troopers titled Starship Troopers: Extermination.

The game is developed in collaboration with Sony Pictures Consumer Products and is set to be a 12-player PvE first-person shooter for PC that takes inspiration from the classic 1997 Starship Troopers movie. It promises players squad-based battles with insectoid aliens, which fans of the 1997 film remember well, that will take place across the massive map with five unique zones.

In the game, you take on a role of a trooper in one of three playable classes – Assault, Support, and Defense. According to Offworld, players will have to work together within their squad to complete objectives, get necessary resources, build and defend their base of operations, and eventually, escape to one of the extraction points as a team. To help players work better as a team, the developers introduced a "Ping" feature – the system that enables easier player-to-player communication.
During the course of the game, players will be able to acquire new weaponry and equipment as well as unlock new perks unique to each of the classes that will help them fight various types of bugs they encounter during different missions. At launch, there will be five bug types – Drone, Warrior, Gunner, Plasma Grenadier, and Tiger Elite.

Starship Troopers: Extermination will launch in Early Access on Steam in 2023. You can learn more about the game and wishlist it here.
