Square Enix Says Forspoken Initial Sales Were "Lackluster"

However, the company doesn't plan to give up on the title and believes the sales will improve with the help of patches and promotions.

Square Enix has published outlines of its briefing with investors where it commented on the first financial results of the recently-released Forspoken.

The publisher admitted that the game's sales have been "lackluster" so far and acknowledged that its reviews were "challenging". At the same time, Square Enix noted that the action features of Forspoken, such as its parkour and combat capabilities, have received positive feedback and suggested that this positive feedback has resulted in improvements to the development capabilities of other games in the future.

Although Forspoken's poor opening sales are expected to lead to a significant drop in earnings for the quarter, the publisher has not given up on the game as it believes that it can still boost sales with patches and promotions.

Earlier, Square Enix had announced that Forspoken developer Luminous Productions would stop its existence as a separate studio. On March 1, the team got merged with the rest of Square Enix.
