Starbreeze Is Returning to Third-Party Publishing

Walking Tree Games' The Tribe Must Survive will be the debut of the company's relaunched publishing arm.

Starbreeze revealed that it is returning to third-party publishing by launching a dedicated publishing arm of the company.

The company announced that it already signed the first agreement to publish a game. The first title published by the newly-formed publishing arm will be The Tribe Must Survive developed by Walking Tree Games. The game is scheduled for early access launch in 2023, with a full launch expected in 2024.

Starbreeze, however, noted that the publishing agreement between the company and Walking Tree Games is "pending that the developer gets funding from the German federal games industry-funding programme."

The company also shared that its newly-launched publishing arm is set to support marketing, community management, and platform relations, as well as provide funding for game development.

"We are excited to embark on this journey together with Walking Tree Games to restart our third-party publishing," Starbreeze's VP Publishing Staffan Nyström commented. "Our strategy is focused on publishing the right games for our community. By utilizing our expertise, leveraging our specific publishing skills, and broadening our games portfolio, we will be growing our community and strengthening Starbreeze’s future reach."
