I guess the boost pack was not enough after all.
Back before Starfield was released, players were disappointed to hear that the game would not have on-land vehicles (along with fishing) as Bethesda wanted to make it feel good on foot. As for faster moving, the boost pack was supposed to be enough.
"The boost pack almost acts like this vehicle, it's super fun, where you can fly through… and then the low gravity planets are just really really special in the game," said Todd Howard.
I assume the pack was not enough after all because the studio is now working on rovers and such which you can drive on its countless planets. Unfortunately, the company hasn't elaborated on the feature, but I expect some level of customization there.

Aside from this exciting update, Bethesda is changing Starfield's surface maps to make them easier to navigate. If you feel your ship is not pretty enough inside, don't worry – you'll get to decorate the interior in a new mode and even add empty rooms to furnish.
Finally, you will be able to respec your traits and change your appearance in New Game Plus for a more varied experience.

The update with these and other features is available on Steam Beta now and will come to other platforms later this month.
