Game developers and publishers can now create multi-game packs on Steam themselves.
There were multiple cross-developer and cross-publisher game bundles on Steam before, but what is different now is that creators can assemble these sets themselves. The process is quite simple: first, one of the developers creates a bundle with at least one of the games they created and enables collaborative mode. From this moment on, developer 1 is considered the owner of the bundle.
Next, the owner sends e-invites to the rest of the developers and publishers and they add their games to the bundle. The owner closes the bundle to prevent further editing, and here is when Steam steps in to check whether every party's needs are met and whether everyone is satisfied with the conditions of the agreement (from the games included in the bundle to royalty split and everything in between).
As soon as Steam receives a confirmation from every party, the owner may publish the bundle. Steam emphasized that this update is a result of multiple requests by developers. What is more, it is not only developers and publishers who are going to benefit from the new feature — Valve is hoping that this will help musicians who write soundtracks for the games get the proceeds paid directly to them.
