Universal Studios Hollywood announced that the first U.S. Super Nintendo World theme park will open in the Los Angeles area in 2023 featuring Super Mario characters like Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach.
On Thursday, Universal Studios Hollywood announced that the first U.S. Super Nintendo World theme park will open outside of Los Angeles in 2023. The theme park represents a partnership with the Japanese video game company and Comcast Corporation and will be located within an expanded section of Universal park. It will feature such Super Mario characters as Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach, according to Nintendo's statement.
The first venue of the theme park built around the Nintendo video games universe was opened in March 2021 in Osaka, Japan. Since then, the studio's plans already included building similar parks in the US at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort. Although, until now we didn't know the specific timeline when the parks would open.
North America's debut of Super Nintendo World will later be followed by the second US location in Orlando, Florida, which is set to open in 2025. Previously, it was said that the venue would be ready by 2023, however, the construction was delayed due to COVID-19, according to Universal.
Apart from the US locations, an amusement park in Singapore is also on the way. Universal announced it back in 2019, however, further details haven't been revealed yet.
