An investor memo revealed plans for buying the Dirt 5 developers.
Take-Two Interactive plans to buy Codemasters, the British studio behind F1 and Dirt. An investor memo shared on Friday revealed that there's an offer to acquire the studio for $973 million.
Codemasters has just celebrated the release of Dirt 5 featuring the voices of Nolan North and Troy Baker. Earlier this year, the studio has also released the F1 2020, the 13th game in the Formula 1 racing series.
Take-Two is the parent company managing Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar Games. The company also leads 2k, the studio developing the Bioshock, Borderlands, and Civilization series.
"Take-Two believes that the combination of Take-Two and Codemasters would bring together two world-class interactive entertainment portfolios, with a highly complementary fit between Take-Two's 2K publishing label and Codemasters in the racing genre," Take-Two said in the memo. "In addition, Take-Two believes that it can bring benefits to Codemasters' performance by leveraging Take-Two's global distribution network and 2K’s core operating expertise in publishing, including live operations, analytics, product development, and brand and performance marketing."
