Gameindustry reports that Finnish studio PlayRaven, founded by former members of Remedy, Rockstar and other big gaming companies, finished the latest round of funding. The company received over $4.125 million (€3.3 million). This investment was finalized on November 18. This is not the first time the company received serious money. Dince 2013 the company got over $7.5 million in total.
The Norwegian VC fund Northzone joins the group of investors backing PlayRaven. As usual, our Finance Manager asked for the cash in the form of unmarked, non-consecutive bank notes. We even sent them a brown suitcase with a combination lock and arranged for a discreet meeting at a shady downtown cafe in Oslo. I guess there must have been a glitch in the chain of communication somewhere because the suitcase never arrived but the money appeared on our bank account instead. We have an exciting 2015 ahead of us – a bigger office already scouted and some great new people signed onboard (credits from e.g. GTA5 / Rockstar Games).

4.1 million comes from a Norwegian venture capital fund Northzone, which also supports Spotify. Among other investors of PlayRaven are Creandum, Jari Ovaskainen and London Venture Partners (Supercell).
PlayRaven Team
PlayRaven is a mobile company and with the millions behind its back it wants to storm the app store charts and produce high quality games for various platforms. PlayRaven has released its first game Spymaster in September. The product was reasonably successful: it rose to the top spot in the Apple iPad strategy game charts in 99 countries. PlayRaven did not announce any other big games it has been working on but we hope to hear some news in 2015.
