The developers focus on the content that showcases the quality of the game on PS5.
Director Katsuhiro Harada has shared that the story mode footage for the Tekken 8 trailer shown at the latest State of Play was rendered in real-time and captured from the game running on PS5. It means that all the character models, backgrounds, and effects from the trailer you'll see in the game. Harada notes that some of the effects, dialogue and camera angles are currently being updated and may change when the game launches.
"The Tekken series has always been known for the dramatic pre-rendered movies from its story mode. And in addition, we also have plenty of other exciting content from Tekken 8 we would very much like to show you. However, for our first announcement, we chose to focus on the content that showcases the quality of this game on PS5."
The level of quality demonstrated in the trailer is impressive, all the water droplets and other little details along with character models set this part apart from Tekken 7.
The final result might be even more fantastic as, according to Harada, the developers are working hard to enhance the quality even further. "In the latest version of the work-in-progress build, the quality is dynamically improving each day, with the giant tanker moving closer to the shore in the background and large flames flare up near where the character is standing."
Tekken 8 will focus on the father and son showdown between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama. Harada left the meaning of the scene in the trailer to our imagination, saying we'll find it out when the game releases. He didn't specify when exactly it will happen.
