Ten Square Games Cuts 120 Jobs and Shuts Down Two Games

The Polish publisher had to write off over $6 million for Undead Clash and Fishing Master due to market competition and high user acquisition costs.

Polish-based publisher Ten Square Games has announced its decision to terminate two of its games, Undead Clash and Fishing Masters, and lay off 120 employees. The company cited intense competition, rising user acquisition costs, and market instability as the reasons behind these actions.

As reported by Mobilegamer.biz, instead, Ten Square Games will focus on its existing games, Fishing Clash and Hunting Clash, and also "prepare for further scaling" of Wings of Heroes.

According to Ten Square Games, the cancellation of Undead Clash was due to the intense competition in the market segment and the significant costs involved in acquiring users. As for Fishing Masters, the company explained that it made the decision to terminate the game due to the market's instability and the fact that it fell "outside the main area of the company’s operations."

Ten Square Games said it would be writing off the costs of both Undead Clash and Fishing Masters. The costs of Undead Clash amounted to PLN 14.3 million ($3.4 million), while Fishing Masters cost PLN 11.4 million ($2.7 million).

"The strength of Ten Square Games is the ability to adapt to changing market conditions," the publisher said in a statement. "In order to safely go through the current period of market turbulence and provide the organization with the possibility of development in the future, we decided to focus on the main products of the group and reduce operating costs."

The COO of Ten Square Games, Andrzej Ilczuk, also added that the company will now be restructuring its operations as it shifts its development focus towards its "strongest competencies."
