The End of You, a short narrative game, delves into the challenging theme of lost love and the often agonizing journey toward closure.

Following the teaser trailer, insert the cassette, press the play button, and let the story begin on a rainy day...

The narrative unfolds in a domestic setting, with you interacting with everyday objects that serve as triggers for memories. Each object, from a forgotten mug to a toothbrush to a worn-out cassette, holds remnants of a past relationship. The game encourages you to explore these memories, which are as poignant as they are painful.

You step into the shoes of the protagonist, Walter, who is in the process of packing away items that remind him of his ex, Emily. However, the apartment seems to be teeming with her presence, her essence lingering in every corner. As you navigate Walter's small apartment, you encounter 'ghosts' of Emily — versions of her from the past, or perhaps versions created by Walter's longing and nostalgia. Walter experiences the push and pull of holding onto the past and the need to let go.

The End of You is characterized by its psychological depth, dramatic narrative, and atmospheric design. It raises challenging questions about closure and the aftermath of a strained relationship. Can the weight of memories and the ghosts of the past be packed away in a cardboard box? You'll likely find the answer after journeying through Walter's story.

It took me some time to process and take myself out of the emotion evoked by this 1-minute trailer. The End of You is more than just a game — it's a thoughtful exploration of the human condition and the universal experience of love and loss. It reminds me that sometimes, saying goodbye is a process that happens over and over again.
