The Netherlands has officially recognized the demoscene, a computer art subculture that emerged in the late 20th century, devoted its efforts to creating impressive audiovisual presentations within the constraints of 4kb to 64kb, as a living national cultural heritage.
The Dutch's acceptance of the demoscene marks another milestone in its success story as the first digital culture to be accepted by UNESCO. Furthermore, this prestigious recognition adds to the previous acknowledgments of the demoscene as a cultural heritage in Finland, Germany, and Poland.
