
The Pokémon Company has recently updated the "Pokémon in Figures" section of its corporate website revealing that over 440 million units of all Pokémon-related software have been shipped during the Pokémon franchise's lifetime, as of the end of March 2022.
The previous update on the website, which stated that over 380 million units had shipped, took place in March 2021 meaning that 60 million more units have been sold during the last financial year.
In addition to the figures regarding Pokémon games shipment, The Pokémon Company also revealed some details for both the trading card game and TV series.
The website states that The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) which launched in Japan back in 1996 and in the US in 1998 has produced over 43.2 billion cards. The game is available in 13 languages and is being sold in 77 areas around the world, the company shared. The company also noted that the animated Pokémon TV shows have been aired in 192 areas throughout the world.
The Pokémon series first launched in 1996 with the release of Pocket Monsters Red and Green for the Game Boy in Japan followed by Pokémon Red and Blue for international releases. The most recent installments in the series include Pokémon Snap, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus which proved to be really successful becoming one of the main reasons for the growth of The Pokémon Company which saw an incredible increase in sales in the last fiscal year.
