This Detailed 3D Corridor Render Uses Only 74 Polygons
Macroblock showcased their creative approach to paintovers.
This piece doesn't rely on displacement, normals, reflections, GI, or any lighting or shaders at all. This is just a single 4K emissive texture with all details baked in.
According to Macroblock, the render uses a trimsheet built from photo textures, capturing real-world details like lighting and weathering. It also works from multiple angles to some extent, though it can produce varying levels of artifacts. However, since it's designed for paintovers, not optimization, these artifacts are easy to fix quickly in 2D.
