This Is NOT a Classic Godzilla Movie, But Actually a 3D Animation

Using Blender, 3D Animator TAIYAKI brings the 50s-60s era back in a digital format.

With Godzilla, an undisputed GOAT among fictional monsters, gearing up to celebrate its 70th birthday this Fall, it seems that more and more 3D creators are honoring the iconic kaiju with their spectacular digital artworks.

One such creator is TAIYAKI, a 3D Artist and Animator who has recently been making waves on Twitter by unveiling something truly remarkable and unique: Godzilla animations that look nearly indistinguishable from Toho's original movies from the 1950s and 1960s.

Using Blender, a free and open-source 3D modeling, texturing, rendering, and animation software, TAIYAKI perfectly mimics the appearance, feel, and FPS of classic films, leaving many in disbelief that what they saw was actually a 3D animation and not some aged footage of a guy in a suit destroying a miniature copy of Tokyo. Today, to honor Godzilla's upcoming anniversary, let's take a look at some of the sequences and behind-the-scenes breakdowns shared by TAIYAKI:

And here are some of TAIYAKI's earlier works, also inspired by a legendary Japanese franchise:
