The latest trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has just arrived and it showcases the franchise's new direction, featuring a fresh lineup of towering extraterrestrial machines making their grand entrance.
The upcoming movie takes place in 1994 and draws inspiration from the '90s Beast Wars animated series. As revealed in the previous trailer, Rise of the Beasts will feature a diverse range of locations, from the bustling streets of Brooklyn to the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru.
The film features Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback in the lead roles and will introduce the Maximals and Predacons, the titular beasts. Additionally, Michelle Yeoh and Pete Davidson will be lending their voices to new transformer characters.
The ensemble cast also features Peter Cullen reprising his role as Optimus Prime, as well as Tobe Nwigwe, Ron Perlman, Peter Dinklage, Liza Koshy, John DiMaggio, David Sobolov, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, and Cristo Fernández.
Rise of the Beasts will seemingly delve into more than just the introduction of new factions in the ongoing Autobots versus Decepticons conflict. It will also shed light on the Autobots' roots and their relationship with Earth. In addition, the movie introduces the Terrorcons, a Decepticon sub-group that transforms into monstrous metallic beings.
According to the trailers, the movie is set before the events of Michael Bay's Transformers movies, meaning that prior knowledge of the franchise isn't necessary to enjoy the film. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is slated to hit theaters in the United States on June 9, 2023.
