The software's first major update brings a novel solver for collisions and pressure and features lots of quality-of-life improvements.
Software developer JangaFX has announced the release of EmberGen 1.1, a substantial update to the company's real-time volumetric fluid simulation tool for simulating, rendering, and exporting flipbooks, image sequences, and VDB volumes. Described as "the first major update" since last year's release of EmberGen 1.0, the release focuses on simulation quality, accuracy, and performance, adding new features to the application and improving the existing ones.
The highlight of the release is the 62 new or updated presets it introduces, which you can quickly get the hang of and use in your projects. Moreover, it is now possible to parent emitters, colliders, shapes, and forces to bones on your imported meshes. A newly added collision solver now allows users to fill pipes up with smoke and fixes the issue of moving colliders eating smoke. Finally, EmberGen 1.1 comes with a slew of quality-of-life improvements, including a new gradient picker, easy-to-access simulation quality settings, updated force masking, and Exposed diffusion, dissipation, and light scattering options.

A few days ago, JangaFX's Evangelist Jason Key also shared an update on LiquiGen, the company's upcoming fluid simulation software, providing a look at the real-time liquid simulation and path-tracing capabilities the pre-alpha version of the software has to offer.
