The updated version of the tech is already available via GitHub.
During Unity's Unite 2022 conference, the company announced the release of an updated version of the Digital Human package, the library of tech features used to create realistic digital humans for Enemies and Heretic tech demos.
Available via GitHub, the new version of the package comes primarily with improvements related to digital eyes and skin, adding a GPU path for skin deformation and skin attachment calculations, bringing new shader graphs for eyes and skin, and more. According to the company, they now plan to "[bring] digital humans to life and [make] them practical for games."
New improvements:
- Added GPU path for skin deformation and skin attachment calculations.
- When using GPU path for skin attachment target, EyeRenderer and TeethRenderer need a reference to the SkinAttachmentTarget driving the markers as the transforms aren't updated on the CPU anymore
- Added skin tension to apply wrinkle maps.
- Custom pass for slight blurring around the eyelids.
