Unity has announced that it is cutting 600 jobs in order to position itself for "long-term and profitable growth." According to an SEC filing, the move will result in an 8 percent reduction in the company's workforce.

It's only been a few months since the engine maker announced its previous round of layoffs that impacted around 300 employees. At the time, the CEO of Unity, John Riccitiello, had explained that the layoff was a response to the negative economic trends faced by many big tech companies. He also mentioned that Unity was "dealing very specifically with overlap, and a handful of projects are going in the closet".
It should be noted that at the end of June 2022, the company had laid off around 300-400 employees globally, mostly consisting of specialists from the AI and software engineering departments.
