Valve Releases Proton 8.0, Making Dead Space Remake Playable on Steam Deck
Additionally, the update brings multiple bug and game fixes.
Valve has announced the release of Proton 8.0, a new and improved version of the company's Windows translation layer for Steam Deck and Linux desktop. Described as their "biggest rebase to date", the update makes multiple games playable on Valve's handheld console, including Dead Space Remake, Forspoken, and many others, and brings multiple bug and game fixes. According to Valve's developer Pierre-Loup Griffais, Proton 8.0 requires a GPU that supports Vulkan 1.3.
