Valve Reveals a $400 Handheld Gaming PC
The next gaming handheld is called Steam Deck.
Valve has officially announced Steam Deck, their new handheld gaming PC that will be launching later this year. Basically, the device is a slightly larger Nintendo Switch that offers the power of a full gaming PC. The device is managed by a modified version of Valve’s SteamOS, and there's a new interface for easy navigation.
As for the specs, the new handheld will have a 7-inch, 1280x800 resolution, 60hz LCD screen. The device is said to be powered by a custom AMD APU with a 4-core, 8-thread CPU, plus 8 RDNA 2 compute units for the GPU and 16 GBs of LPDDR5 RAM. Valve states the goal is to give players access to their entire Steam library on the go.
The Steam Deck will also offer Bluetooth support for any device that can be connected to a regular PC, plus it can be docked and used with an external display. You can also plug in a mouse and keyboard.
The device will have three different models. The base version will cost you $399 (64 GB of storage). There's also a $529 model with 256 GB and a $649 version with 512 GB and an anti-glare glass screen.
